Some things to know before buying a cheap printer

If you go to Walmart of Office Depot, you will notice there are a lot of cheap printers you can buy. Many of them will be brand name printers such as HP as well. And often, you can get these printers for $50 or less. If you use coupons and rebates, the final price you end up paying can even be less than this. But are these cheap inkjet printers a good buy?

The answer is not always that simple. While you definitely save money upfront by purchasing these kinds of printers, you usually have to pay quite a bit for ink cartridges. Therefore, it’s important that you do a bit of investigation prior to making a purchase. Using the Internet, you should easily be able to determine  the cost of ink cartridges. However, an expensive cartridge is not necessarily a bad thing, if you can print quite a lot of pages with it. This is often the case with toners for laser printers. For this reason, you need to calculate the price of ink per page in order to compare apples to apples. This isn't always easy to figure out, but it's worth taking the time and making the calculations so you don't end up with a large ongoing cost after purchasing one of these cheap printers.

When you do buy ink for your printers, make sure you buy from online stores, since they will almost invariably offer the most favorable pricing, even when shipping is taken into account. Some stores that I recommend are 123inkjets, 4inkjets, Inkfarm, and Supplies Outlet. At this time, I favor Inkfarm since they offer a terrific selection of both remanufactured and compatible cartridges. Be sure you obtain some Inkfarm coupons from www.inkjetprinterdiscounts.com as this will allow you to get the best deal possible.
