As the team’s top player, No. 6-ranked Davenport obviously depends on Javontae Ford‘s statistical production. But the Panthers also rely on Ford for his energy and leadership, something that comes naturally for him according to a story by Peter J. Wallner of the Grand Rapids Press:

“I’ve always been a vocal leader, even at Forest Hills Northern,” said Ford, a two-time all-area selection at guard with the Huskies. “Coach (Steve) Harvey would say, ‘JaVontae, you might not be the best player, but people enjoy being around you. So use that to your advantage. Make sure there’s always a vibe around you.”

Ford is averaging 16.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, both of which lead the team, for Davenport this season.
