Saginaw Valley State senior guard Chris Webb was the second college basketball player in Michigan to eclipse 1,000 career points after Davenport’s JaVontae Ford did it earlier in the week.

Webb hit 1,000 points in the first half of the team’s 59-50 win over Ohio Dominican on Thursday. He finished with 19 points for the game.

While Ford has a good shot at moving into Davenport’s all-time scoring leader spot, Webb won’t get there on SVSU’s list. Louis O’Neal is the all-time leader at 2,255 points.

Webb is averaging 14.8 points per game this season. If he picks up that pace just a bit, he’d have a chance of eclipsing Bob Wenson for 10th all-time on the SVSU list by the end of the season.
