Due to a scheduling conflict, it was unclear whether Michigan State legend Magic Johnson would be able to make it back to East Lansing Dec. 14 for a celebration of Jenison Fieldhouse. Now though, Diamond Leung of MLive reports that Johnson will likely be there:
Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis said Monday that Johnson is expected to attend the Spartans’ Dec. 14 reunion game and Dec. 15 contest with Tuskegee that marks the first regular-season game in Jenison since 1989.
And yes, there is a chance Johnson could be playing in the reunion game, which is expected to feature some Michigan State greats among the former players.
“He changed his plans to be here,” Hollis said Monday inside his office in Jenison Field House. ”It’s the AD’s job to coerce him into playing.”
I don’t think I have to spell out for anyone how much more amazing that weekend will be with Johnson not only in attendance, but potentially playing in the reunion game. Hopefully Hollis can make that happen.
