Chris Douglas-Roberts dominant, scores 49 points in D-League debut (with video)
November 20, 2012 in Professional
Detroit’s Chris Douglas-Roberts showed potential as a scorer during his two seasons in the NBA. When he chose to begin this season in the D-League looking for his next NBA opportunity, it wasn’t necessarily his scoring ability he’d have to showcase in order to earn that spot, but it’s hard to ignore the point total he put up in his first game. Via Ridiculous Upside:
“Domination” is perhaps a conservative way of summarizing CDR’s impressive efforts in his first preseason game on November 19th. Donning a Texas Legends uniform (NBA affiliate of the Mavericks), the guard man-handled and manipulated the opposing Santa Cruz Warriors’ defense.
You can see in the highlights above that Douglas-Roberts is highly skilled offensively by D-League standards. His challenge remains proving to teams that his all-around game — passing and defense — have become more consistent as well. If he can do that, he’ll be back on a NBA roster rather quickly.
