Billing shot 38 percent from the field and made 11-of-14 free throws as LSSU split decisions, losing 91-72 to Missouri-St. Louis and winning 67-62 against Illinois-Springfield. Billing contributed four points, two steals, a rebound and an assist during the Lakers’ 14-2 second-half opening run that brought Lake Superior State back from a 34-23 halftime deficit against UIS.
This is the second player of the week honor for the Anna, Ohio, native, who was also named to the 2012-13 Pre-Season All-GLIAC First Team.
Through two games, Billing is averaging 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
Billing is the second player from a Michigan college to receive his league’s Player of the Week award this week, joining Davenport’s Javontae Ford, who received the award in the NAIA’s WHAC.
