Keith Benson‘s journey to the NBA will take him back to the NBA D-League. Benson, an Oakland University great, was listed among 11 players who will be training camp invites for the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the team Benson played with last season.

Despite having a good Summer League and performing well in training camp, Benson was cut by the Atlanta Hawks. He’s talented enough to surely have more lucrative opportunities overseas, but if his objective is to get to the NBA, the D-League is likely his best route. He surely attracted the attention of a NBA team or two and got on their radar with his summer performances, and if he continues that into the D-League season, he’s a good bet for a call-up.

Benson played in 20 games for Sioux Falls last season, averaging 15.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 50 percent.
