Because of his non-flashy game, the signing of former Oakland big man Will Hudson by New Zealand’s Sky City Breakers was not met with much enthusiasm at first. After a few preseason games, though, fans have come around and now appreciate what Hudson brings to the table, according to Radio Sport in New Zealand:

Pledger’s been joined by the American import (Hudson) who top scored for the Breakers with 21 points in their final 100-93 pre-season loss against the Sydney Kings in Melbourne.

Coach Andrej Lemanis says they’re a good combination.

“What we have obviously is a pretty significant advantage inside on most teams so it’s just about as a group understanding how we utlise that and how we play together, how we utilise those strengths to best advantage the group.”

The team opens its regular season Oct. 6.
