James Young, one of the top class of 2013 recruits in the country and a Mr. Basketball candidate, is reportedly transferring from Troy High School to Rochester High School. From Scott Burnstein of the Oakland Press:

“His mother came to school today and enrolled him,” confirmed Rochester head coach John Pleasant of Young’s transfer. “I got a call from my athletic director this morning telling me what had happened. I haven’t met with him yet to discuss it, nor have we ever talked about it in the past.”

This is obviously a surprising move. There are few other details available, but Young did indicate on Twitter that he’s apparently moved or is moving into the Rochester district. The MHSAA does allow players who transfer and physically move into the district they transfer to to play sports without sitting out a semester first.
