Michigan players pay vist to 9-year-old’s lemonade stand in Detroit
August 9, 2012 in Division I
It’s impossible to read the story about 9-year-old Detroiter Joshua Smith and the lemonade stand he started to try and raise money for his cash strapped city without being inspired. Count Michigan players Trey Burke, Jordan Morgan and Corey Person among those who were inspired enough to reach out to Smith. From Nick Baumgardner of AnnArbor.com:
But perhaps nothing has impressed Morgan more than Joshua Smith, a 9-year-old Detroit boy who is trying to save the city — one cup of lemonade at a time.
“You hear a lot of people complain about what’s going on in the city, but it takes a collective effort from everybody to want to change it,” Morgan said. “And to hear that type of attitude from a 9-year-old kid … this kind of message needs to get out there and supported.
“From a 9-year-old kid, it’s amazing.”
Smith obviously deserves all the attention his lemonade stand has received and more, but that’s also great that the Michigan players took time to go visit him.
Yahoo!’s Jeff Eisenberg also wrote about it. Click on Detroit has video of the surprise meet-up.
