Jackson C.C.’s James Johnson transfers to Livingstone College

Jackson Community College standout James Johnson will finish his college basketball career at Livingstone College, a Division II school in North Carolina.
Johnson, a Saginaw Heritage graduate, is a 6-foot-4 wing who developed into a steady, consistent player at Jackson. As a freshman, he averaged 11.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 43 percent overall and 32 percent from 3-point range. As a sophomore, he improved to 16.5 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game while maintaining his shooting percentages.
Johnson was named MCCAA All-Region, All-MCCAA and All-Eastern Conference First Team, among other honors, as a sophomore.
Livingstone college competes in the CIAA conference and finished 11-17 last season. The Livingstone coaching staff has a Michigan connection as assistant Tony Holliday is a former Flint area coach, notably coaching Mateen Cleaves and Antonio Smith at Flint Northern in the 1990s.
